Worksheet on Adding Rational Numbers

Practice the questions given in the worksheet on adding rational numbers. The questions are based on adding rational numbers with same denominators and adding rational numbers with different denominators.

We know for any two rational numbers a/b and c/d to find a/b + c/d first we convert a/b and c/d to equivalent rational numbers having denominators equal to the LCM of b and d and then they are added.

1. Add the following rational numbers:

(ii) -6/11 and -4/11

(iii) -11/8 and 5/8

(iv) -7/3 and 1/3

4. Add and express the sum as a mixed fraction:
