Worksheet on Distance Formula

Practice the questions given in the worksheet on distance formula.

1.  Find the point on the x-axis which is equidistant from the point (5, 4) and (-2, 3).

2. Find the point on the y-axis whose from (3, 2) and (-1, 3) and (-1, 3/2) are in the ratio 2 : 1.

3. If the distance of the point (a, b) from (-3, 0) are 4 each, find a and b.

4. Find a if the distance of the point (4, 1) from the point (3, a) is √10.

5. The point B has the coordinates (0, -4). Find the coordinates of the point A on the x-axis if the distance between A and B is 5 units

6. Find points on the x-axis, each of which is at a distance of 10 units from the point P(11, -8).

7. Find the point on the y-axis which is equidistant from the points A(-4, 3) and B(5, 2).

8. If the point A(a, 2) is equidistant from the points B(8, -2) and C(2, -2), find the value of a.

9. Find the ordinate of a point whose abscissa is 10 and which is at a distance of 10 units from the point P(2, -3).

10. Find all possible values of a for which the distance between the points A(a, -1) and B(5, 3) is 5 units.
