Units of Mass and Weight Conversion Chart

Units of mass and weight conversion chart are discussed here in metric units of mass and weight and customary units of mass and weight.

In math when we use the units of mass and weight conversion chart, we normally use gram to represent as the standard unit of mass and weight, and the other standard units are as follows:

1 milligram = 0.001 gram

1 centigram = 0.01 gram

1 decigram = 0.1 gram

1 kilogram = 1000 grams

1 gram = 1000 milligrams

These are the general units of mass and weight measurement conversion which are very important and useful to know while solving the questions.

Customary units of mass and weight conversion chart are:

1 ton = 2000 pounds

1 pound = 16 ounces

Solved Examples on Units of Mass and Weight Conversion Chart:

1. Convert 95 g into kilograms.

Solution:

95 g = \(\frac{95}{1000}\) kg

       = 0.095 kg

2. Convert 780 mg into grams.

Solution:

780 mg = \(\frac{780}{1000}\) g

            = 0.78 g

3. Convert 34 decigram into grams.

Solution:

34 dg = \(\frac{34}{10}\) g

         = 3.4 g

4. Convert 21 kg 46 g into kilograms.

Solution:

21 kg 46 g = 21 kg + \(\frac{46}{1000}\) g

                = 21 kg + 0.046 g

                = 21.046 kg

5. Convert 9.6 kg into dag.

Solution:

9.6 kg = 9 kg + 600 g

We know, 1 dag = 10 g

So, 9600 g = \(\frac{9600}{10}\) dg

                = 960 dag

6. Convert 95 cg into dg.

Solution:

1 dg = 10 cg

So, 95 cg = \(\frac{95}{10}\) dg

               = 9.5 dg

Word problems on conversion of weight

Kilogram to Gram:

1. My school bag's weight is 3 kg 350 g. Find the weight in grams.

Solution:

1 kg= 1000 g

3 kg = 3 × 1000 g

       = 3000 g

3 kg 350 g = 3000 g + 350 g

                = 3350 g

Therefore, the weight of the bag is 3350 g.

Gram to Kilogram:

2. My younger brother's weight is 4676 g. Find his weight in kg.

Solution:

4676 g = 4000 g + 676 g

           = \(\frac{4000}{1000}\) kg + 676 g; [Since, 1000 g = 1 kg]

           = 4 kg 676 g

Therefore, the weight of my younger brother is 4 kg 676 g.
