Larger numbers can be easily added by using Basic Blocks of Tens and Ones.

Let us add 51 and 28.

51 = 5 tens and 1 ones.

28 = 2 tens and 8 ones.

We represent these numbers by the following pictures.

Thus, we get 51 + 28 = 79


Similarly, we can add 23 and 45.

23 = 2 tens and 3 ones.

45 = 4 tens and 5 ones.
