Multiplication tells us how many objects are in equal groups. Let's see how 2 Γ 3 = 6 works.
There are 2 groups, with 3 objects in each group.
We can add the groups together:
Multiplication can also be shown as 3 groups of 2.
Both multiplication facts have the same product: 2 Γ 3 = 3 Γ 2 = 6

Skip counting by 2 means adding 2 each time. It is a helpful way to practice the 2 times table.
Each number is 2 more than the number before it.
Each jump of 2 represents one group of 2. For example:
2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 10

The 2 times table has easy-to-spot patterns. Learning these patterns can help students understand and remember multiplication facts.
Look at the products in the 2 times table:
Every product is 2 more than the previous product.
The products in the 2 times table are all even numbers.
Even numbers can be divided into two equal groups with no remainder.
Multiplying a number by 2 is the same as doubling the number.
So:
Use this multiplication chart to practice the 2 times table. Start with 2 and add 2 each time to find the next product.
You can switch the order of the factors and get the same product. This is called the Commutative Property of Multiplication.
A simple way to multiply a number by 2 is to double the number. This means adding the same number to itself.
To multiply a number by 2, find twice the number.
When you multiply a whole number by 2, you are finding twice the number.
A number line can help you understand the 2 times table. Start at 0 and make equal jumps of 2 to find each product.
Each jump represents one group of 2. Every time you make another jump, you add 2 to the number.
Five jumps of 2 give us 10.
So, 5 Γ 2 = 10. The number line shows five equal jumps of 2.
An array is a group of objects arranged in equal rows and columns. Arrays help us see multiplication visually.
There are 2 rows, and each row has 5 objects.
The array shows 2 groups of 5.
So, 2 Γ 5 = 10 because there are 10 objects altogether.
Each row has 5 objects, so we can also add the two rows:
This is another way to understand 2 Γ 5 = 10.
