Multiplication Table of 18

Repeated addition by 18’s means the multiplication table of 18.

(i) When 6 groups having 18 starfish each.

By repeated addition we can show 18 + 18 + 18 + 18 + 18 + 18 = 108

Then, eighteen 6 times or 6 eighteen’s

6 × 18 = 108

Therefore, there are 108 starfish.

(ii) When 8 packets of 18 chocos in each packet.

By repeated addition we can show 18 + 18 + 18 + 18 + 18 + 18 + 18 + 18 = 144

Then, eighteen 8 times or 8 eighteen’s

8 × 18 = 144

Therefore, there are 144 chocos.

We will learn how to use the number line for counting the multiplication table of 18.

18 Times Table on Number Line

(i) Start at 0. Hop 18, two times. Stop at 36.

2 eighteen’s are 36         2 × 18 = 36

(ii) Start at 0. Hop 18, five times.

Stop at ____. Thus, it will be 90

5 eighteen’s are 90        5 × 18 = 90

(iii) Start at 0. Hop 18, ten times.

Stop at ____. Thus, it will be 180

10 eighteen’s are 180        10 × 18 = 180
