Examples to find Highest Common Factor by using Prime Factorization Method

Examples to find highest common factor by using prime factorization method are discussed here step by step.

1. Find highest common factor (HCF) of 64 and 80 by using prime factorization method.

Solution:

Find highest common factor (HCF)

64 = 1 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2.

80 = 1 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 5.

Common factor of 64 and 80 = 1, 2, 2, 2, 2.

Highest common factor of 64 and 80 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 = 16.

2. Find highest common factor (HCF) of 150 and 350 by using prime factorization method.

Solution:

Highest Common Factor by using Prime Factorization Method

150 = 1 × 2 × 3 × 5 × 5.

350 = 1 × 2 × 5 × 5 × 7.

Common factor of 150 and 350 = 1, 2, 5, 5.

Highest common factor of 150 and 350 = 2 × 5 × 5 = 50.

3. Find highest common factor (HCF) of 390, 702 and 468 by using prime factorization method.

Solution:

Highest Common Factor by using Prime Factorization Method

390 = 1 × 2 × 3× 5 × 13.

702 = 1 × 2 × 3 × 3 × 3 × 13.

468 = 1 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 3 × 13.

Common factor 390, 702 and 468 = 1, 2, 3, 13.

Highest common factor of 390, 702 and 468 = 2 × 3 × 13= 78.

4. Find highest common factor (HCF) of 84 and 105 by using prime factorization method.

Solution:

Highest Common Factor by using Prime Factorization Method

84 = 1 × 2 × 2 × 3 ×7.

105 = 1 × 3 × 5 × 7.

Common factor of 84 and 105 = 1, 3, 7.

Highest common factor of 84 and 105 = 3 × 7 = 21.

5. Find highest common factor (HCF) of 124, 296 and 228 by using prime factorization method.

Solution:

Highest Common Factor by using Prime Factorization Method

124 = 1 × 2 × 2 × 31.

296 = 1 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 37.

228 = 1 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 19.

Common factor 124, 296 and 228 = 1, 2, 2.

Highest common factor of 124, 296 and 228 = 2 × 2 = 4.
