Multiplication Table of 16

Repeated addition by 16’s means the multiplication table of 16.

(i) When 6 racks of 16 vegetables each.

By repeated addition we can show 16 + 16 + 16 + 16 + 16 + 16 = 96

Then, sixteen 6 times or 6 sixteen‘s

6 × 16 = 96

Therefore, there are 96 vegetables.

(ii) When 10 packs each having 16 pens.

By repeated addition we can show 16 + 16 + 16 + 16 + 16 + 16 + 16 + 16 + 16 + 16 = 160

Then, sixteen 10 times or 10 sixteen‘s

10 × 16 = 160

Therefore, there are 160.

We will learn how to use the number line for counting the multiplication table of 16.

16 Times Table on Number Line

(i) Start at 0. Hop 16, five times. Stop at 80.

5 sixteen‘s are 80         5 × 16 = 80

(ii) Start at 0. Hop 16, eight times.

Stop at ____. Thus, it will be 128

8 sixteen‘s are 128         8 × 16 = 128

(iii) Start at 0. Hop 16, eleven times.

Stop at ____. Thus, it will be 176

11 sixteen‘s are 60         11 × 16 = 176
