Worksheet on Division of Decimal Fractions

We will practice the questions given in the worksheet on division of decimal fractions. While dividing the decimal numbers ignore the decimal point and perform the division as usual and then put the decimal point in the quotient in such a way, that the decimal places in the quotient becomes equal to the decimal places in the dividend.


1. Divide the following:

(i) 3.12 by 8

(ii) 12.675 by 3

(iii) 120.12 by 26

(iv) 8.016 by 24

2. Find the quotient of the following:

(i) 8.64 ÷ 0.24

(ii) 0.5 ÷ 0.25

(iii) 0.993 ÷ 0.331

(iv) 0.027 ÷ 0.03

(v) 4.05 ÷ 1000

(vi) 465.5 ÷ 10


3. Convert each of the following into a decimal:

(i) 34

(ii) 214

(iii) 635

(iv)314

(v) 558


4. If 3105 ÷ 27 = 115, find the quotient in each of the following without actual performing division:

(i) 31.05 ÷ 27

(ii) 3.105 ÷ 27

(iii) 31050 ÷ 27

(iv) 3.105 ÷ 0.27

(v) 3150 ÷ 0.027

(vi) 0.3105 ÷ 0.027


5. Fill in the blanks:

6. Word problems on division of decimals:

(i) The height of a staircase is 4.455 m. If the staircase has 22 steps then find the height of each step.

(ii) Total income of Ram for seven days is $ 225.75. What is his average daily income?

(iii) The product of two decimals is 306.6. If one of them is 16.8 then find the other.

(iv) If 59 buckets of equal capacity can be filled with 560.5 liter of water, then find the capacity of each bucket.

(v) Amy cuts 27 m ribbon into pieces of 0.9 m each. How many pieces did she get?

(vi) 43.75 m cloth is needed to make 25 shirts. How much cloth will be needed to make (a) 1 shirt and (b) 13 shirts?

(vii) There is 20 m of cloth and the number of boys is 8. How much cloth will each boy get?

(viii) If cost of 2 dozen apples is $ 60. What is cost of each apple?

(ix) If a man jumps 216 m in 12 steps. What is the average distance covered in his jump?

(x) The cost of 6 kg apples is $ 365. What is the cost of 8 kg apples?

(xi) 15 boxes hold 60 kg of apples. How much apple is there in 26 boxes?

(xii) The cost of 15 books is $ 860. What is the cost of 45 books?
