To Find What Percent is One Number of Another Number

To find what percent is one number of another number, let us consider some of the following examples.

1. What % is 25 of 200?

Solution:

(25/200) × 100

[Cancel the numerator and denominator or divide by 25; 25/200 ÷ 25/25]

= (1/8) × 100

= (1 × 100)/8

= 100/8

[Cancel the numerator and denominator or divide by 4; 100/8 ÷ 4/4]

= 25/2

= 12 1/2 %



2. What % is 95 out of 150?

Solution:

(95/150) × 100

[Cancel the numerator and denominator or divide by 5; 95/150 ÷ 5/5]

= (19/30) × 100

= (19 × 100)/30

= 1900/30

[Cancel the numerator and denominator or divide by 10; 1900/30 ÷ 10/10]

= 190/3

= 63 1/3 %



3. What % is 22 of 44?

Solution:

(22/44) × 100

[Cancel the numerator and denominator or divide by 22; 22/44 ÷ 22/22]

= (1/2) × 100

= (1 × 100)/2

= 100/2

[Cancel the numerator and denominator or divide by 2; 100/2 ÷ 2/2]

= 50%



4. What % is 30 of 150?

Solution:

(30/150) × 100

[Cancel the numerator and denominator or divide by 30; 30/150 ÷ 30/30]

= (1/5) × 100

= (1 × 100)/5

= 100/5

[Cancel the numerator and denominator or divide by 5; 100/5 ÷ 5/5]

= 20%


5. What % is 250 of 1200?

Solution:

(250/1200) × 100

[Cancel the numerator and denominator or divide by 50; 250/1200 ÷ 50/50]

= (5/24) × 100

= (5 × 100)/24

= 500/24

[Cancel the numerator and denominator or divide by 4; 500/24 ÷ 4/4]

= 125/6

= 20 5/6 %

Solution:

(5.6/560) × 100

= (0.01) × 100

= 0.01 × 100

= 1%



8. What % is 60 of 150?

Solution:

(60/150) × 100

[Cancel the numerator and denominator or divide by 30; 60/150 ÷ 30/30]

= (2/5) × 100

= (2 × 100)/5

= 200/5

[Cancel the numerator and denominator or divide by 5; 200/5 ÷ 5/5]

= 40 %



9. What % is 900 of 2700?

Solution:

(900/2700) × 100

[Cancel the numerator and denominator or divide by 900; 900/2700 ÷ 900/900]

= (1/3) × 100

= (1 × 100)/3

= 100/3

= 33 1/3 %



10. What % is 43 of 172?

Solution:

(43/172) × 100

[Cancel the numerator and denominator or divide by 43; 43/172÷ 43/43]

= (1/4) × 100

= (1 × 100)/4

= 100/4

[Cancel the numerator and denominator or divide by 4; 100/4 ÷ 4/4]

= 25 %
