In formation of square and rectangle we will learn how to construct square and rectangle.
We follow the method given below.
Step I: We draw a line segment AB of the required length.
Step II: We draw the right angles at both end points A and B on the line segment AB.
Step III: We cut off the sides of the square AD and BC, equal to AB, on both the perpendicular lines drawn at points A and B on line segment AB.
Step IV: Now we join the points A and D, B and C and D and C to form the required square.
We follow the same method as described above.
Step I: After drawing perpendicular lines at points A and B on the line segment AB, we cut off the required breadth of the rectangle AD and BC from both the perpendicular lines.
Step II: Now we join the points A and D, B and C and D and C to form the required rectangle.
Remember: The sum of the angles of a quadrilateral is always 360°
1. Construct the square of the following lengths.
(i) 16 cm
(ii) 10 cm
(iii) 3.5 cm
2. Construct the rectangles of the following lengths and breadths. Find their perimeters also.
(i) Length = 4 cm, breadth = 3 cm
(ii) Length = 5 cm, breadth = 4.5 cm
3. The perimeter of a rectangle is 20 cm. It length is 6 cm, construct the rectangles.
