Dividing 2-Digit Number by 1-Digit Number

Learn the process of dividing 2-digit number by 1-digit number using multiplication tables.

1. Divide 54 ÷ 6 using multiplication table.

Solution:

For 54 ÷ 6, the table of 6 is read till we reach 54.

6 × 0 = 0

6 × 1 = 6

6 × 2 = 12

6 × 3 = 18

6 × 4 = 24

6 × 5 = 30

6 × 6 = 36

6 × 7 = 42

6 × 8 = 48

6 × 9 = 54

Therefore, 54 ÷ 6 = 9

Division using Multiplication Table

Quotient = 9

Remainder = 0

2. Divide 42 ÷ 7 using multiplication table.

Solution:

For 42 ÷ 7, we read the multiplication table of 7 till we reach 42.

7 × 0 = 0

7 × 1 = 7

7 × 2 = 14

7 × 3 = 21

7 × 4 = 28

7 × 5 = 35

7 × 6 = 42

Therefore, 42 ÷ 7 = 6

Division using Multiplication Table

Quotient = 6

Remainder = 0

3. Divide 72 ÷ 9 using multiplication table.

Solution:

For 72 ÷ 9, we read the multiplication table of 9 till we reach 72.

9 × 0 = 0

9 × 1 = 9

9 × 2 = 18

9 × 3 = 27

9 × 4 = 36

9 × 5 = 45

9 × 6 = 54

9 × 7 = 63

9 × 8 = 72

Therefore, 72 ÷ 9 = 8

Division using Multiplication Table

Quotient = 8

Remainder = 0

4. Divide 40 ÷ 5 using multiplication table.

Solution:

For 40 ÷ 5, we read the multiplication table of 5 till we reach 40.

5 × 0 = 0

5 × 1 = 5

5 × 2 = 10

5 × 3 = 15

5 × 4 = 20

5 × 5 = 25

5 × 6 = 30

5 × 7 = 35

5 × 8 = 40

Therefore, 40 ÷ 5 = 8

Division using Multiplication Table

Quotient = 8

Remainder = 0

Thus, for dividing 2-digit number by 1-digit number we need to count the multiplication tables of the required number.
