In math addition fact sums to 11 we need to find the two numbers that add to eleven. There are many combinations of numbers that add to 11 (eleven).

Suppose Norton’s brother gave him 4 cookies how many cookies Norton need more to make 11 cookies? Norton needs 7 more cookies to make 11. Since, 4 + 7 =11.

Memorize the table based on addition facts that add to 11:

Addition Fact Sums to 11

From the above table write the number to make the sum 11:

0 + 11 = 11

1 + 10 = 11

2 + 9 = 11

3 + 8 = 11

4 + 7 = 11

5 + 6 = 11

1. Add: 5 + 6 = ?

Count the numbers up to add. Start counting from 5 and count up 6:

6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11

5 + 6 = 11

The sum of 5 + 6 is 11.

2. Find the missing addend whose addition fact sums to 11:

(i) 11 = 7 + ?

Start counting the numbers after 7 to make it equal to 11

8, 9, 10, 11

Count the numbers now, there are 4 numbers.

11 = 7 + 4

(ii) 11 = 3 + ?

Start counting the numbers after 3 to make it equal to 11
