Addition Fact Sums to 10

In math addition fact sums to 10 we need to find the two numbers that add to 10. There are many numbers that add to 10 (ten).

Suppose Kelly’s mother gave 5 pencils how many pencils Kelly need more to make 10? She needs 5 more pencils to make 10. Since, 5 + 5 =10.

Memorize the table based on addition facts that add to 10:

Addition Fact Sums to 10

From the above table write the number to make the sum 10:

0 + 10 = 10

1 + 9 = 10

2 + 8 = 10

3 + 7 = 10

4 + 6 = 10

5 + 5 = 10

Related addition fact sums to 10:

5 + 5 = 10

6 + 4 = 10

7 + 3 = 10

8 + 2 = 10

9 + 1 = 10

10 + 0 = 10

Worked-out examples to find the addition fact sums to 10:

1. Add: 6 + 4 = ?

Count the numbers up to add. Start counting from 6 and count up 4:

6, 7, 8, 9, 10

6 + 4 = 10

The sum is 10.

2. Find the missing addend whose addition fact sums to 10:

(i) 10 = 2 + ?

Start counting the numbers after 2 to make it equal to 10

3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

Count the numbers now, there are 8 numbers.

10 = 2 + 8

(ii) 10 = 4 + ?

Start counting the numbers after 4 to make it equal to 10

5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

Count the numbers now, there are 6 numbers.

10 = 4 + 6
