Metric measures as Percentages

We will discuss here how to calculate the metric measures as percentages. Now we will learn how to convert the cent as percentage of a dollar, centimetre as percentage of a meter, gram as percentage of a kilogram and millilitre as percentage of a litre.

Cent as percentage of a dollar:

100 cent = 1 dollar

1 cent = 1/100 of a dollar = 1 % of a dollar

So, we get, 2 cent = 2 % of a dollar

10 cent = 10 % of a dollar

For example, to find the value of 4 % of $ 75 = 4/100 × $ 75 = $ 3

Centimetre as percentage of a meter:

100 cm = 1 meter

1 cm = 1/100 of a metre = 1 % of a metre

So, we get, 3 cm = 3% of a metre

20 cm = 20 % of a metre

For example, find the value of 5% of 120 m = 5/100 × 120 m = 6 m

Gram as percentage of a kilogram:

1000 g = 1 kg

1g = 1/1000 of a kg = 1/10 × 1/100 of a kg

= 1/10 % of a kg = 0.1% of a kg

So, we get, 5 g = 0.5 % of a kg

375 g = 37. 5 % of a kg

For example, find the value of 20 % of 25 kg = 20/100 × 25 kg = 5 kg.

Millilitre as percentage of a litre:

1000 ml = 1 litre

1 ml = 1/1000 of a litre = 1/10 × 1/100 a litre

= 1/10 % of a litre = 0.1 % of a litre

So, we get, 8 ml = 0.8 % of a litre

235 ml = 23.5% of a litre

For example, find the value of 75 % of 128 l = 75/100 × 128 l = 96 l
