Addition of 10, 100 and 1000

Here we will learn Addition of 10, 100 and 1000 with the help of different examples.

I. Adding 10:

For example, 647 + 10

Identify the tens in 6 4 7.

It is 4 tens.

Add 4 tens and 1 ten.               4 tens + 1 ten = 5 tens

Write 5 in the tens place keeping other digits same.

So, 647 + 10 = 657

Adding 10

II. Adding 100:

For example, 9425 + 100

Identify the hundreds place in 9425.

It is 4 hundreds.

Add 4 hundreds + 1 hundred = 5 hundreds

Write 5 in the hundreds place keeping other digits same.

So, 9425 + 100 = 9525 

Adding 100

III. Adding 1000:

For example, 6937 + 1000

Identify the thousands in 6937. 

It is 6 thousands.

Add, 6 thousands + 1 thousand = 7 thousands

Write 7 in the thousands place keeping other digits same.

So, 6937 + 1000 = 7937

Adding 1000


REMEMBER:

Multiplies of 10, 100 and 1000 can also be added in the same way.
