Worksheet on Graphing Linear Equation

Practice the questions given in the worksheet on graphing linear equation. The questions are based on based on graphing linear equation on co-ordinate graph.

1. If the point (6, 7) lie on the graph of the equation 3y = mx + 3, find the value of ‘m’.

2. Write the equation of two lines passing through (4, 10). How many more such lines are there and why?

3. Draw the graph of the following equations:

(i) y = 2x

(ii) y = 5x

(iii) y = 8

(iv) y = -10

(v) y = x

(vi) y = -x

(vii) y = -3x

(viii) y = -4x

4. Draw the graph of the following equations:

(i) x = 2

(ii) x = 3

(iii) x = 4

(iv) x = 5

(v) x = 7

(vi) x = -2

(vii) x = -5

(viii) x = -10

5. Draw the graph of the following equations:

(i) y = 3x + 1

(ii) y = 2x – 3

(iii) y = 5x – 2

(iv) y = 6 – 2x

6. Draw the graph of each of the following:

(i) x + 3y = 9

 (ii) x + y – 3 = 0

 (iii) x + 2y = 5

(iv) x + y = 7

(v) x – 2y = 4

(vi) x – y = -5

7. Draw the graph of the following linear equations:

(i) 3x = 2y

(ii) 2x – y = 0

(iii) 2x – 3y = 8

(iv) 3x + 2y = 7

(v) 2x – 7y = 8

(vi) 3x = 4 – 2y

(vii) 2x + 5y = 12

(viii) 5x = 1 – 2y

8. Draw the graph of the equation 3x – 4y = 12. Use this graph to find the point of intersection of x – axis and y – axis. Also find the co-ordinates of point A where the graph meets x-axis. Also, find the co-ordinates of point B where the graph meets y-axis.

Answers for the worksheet on graphing linear equation are given below to check the exact answers of the above questions using graphs to solve the equations.

Answers:

1. m = 3

2. (i) x + y = 14                   (ii) y = x + 6

8. Intersection of x – axis = 4, intersection of y – axis = -3

Co-ordinates of point A is (4, 0) and co-ordinates of point B is (0, -3)
