Worksheet on Subtraction of Length

Practice the third grade math worksheet on subtraction of length. This sheet provides different types of questions where you need to arrange the values of length under different columns to find their difference; subtracting length by conversion method; subtracting length without conversion; subtract the values arranged under the unit’s m, dm and cm under different columns and word problems on subtraction of length.

Solved Example:

Subtract 3 m 40 cm from 7 m 60 cm.

Solution:

          m     cm

          7      6 0

       -  3      4 0

          4      2 0

Subtract centimetres first and then the metres.

Therefore, 7 m 60 cm - 3 m 40 cm = 4 m 20 cm.

1. Subtract the following by conversion method:

(i) 12 m 73 cm from 18 m 95 cm

(ii) 15 m 12 cm from 27 m 9 cm

(iii) 9 km 580 m from 30 km 990 m

(iv) 10 km 945 m from 25 km 35 m

(v) 7 m 4 dm 5 cm from 14 m 5 dm 8 cm

2. Subtract the following without conversion:

(i) 27 m 30 cm from 40 m 40 cm

(ii) 11 m 45 cm from 32 m 35 cm

(iii) 5 km 500 m from 16 km 800 m

(iv) 5 km 315 m from 27 km 210 m

(v) 3 m 9 dm 6 cm from 10 m 5 dm 8 cm

3. Subtract the following:

(i) 40 m 60 cm - 15 m 45 cm

(ii) 28 m 65 cm - 12 m 75 cm

(iii) 76 m 80 cm - 15 m 90 cm

(iv) 59 m 25 cm - 19 m 51 cm

(v) 82 m 29 cm - 15 m 78 cm

(vi) 70 m 80 cm - 16 m 96 cm

(vii) 15 m 5 dm 7 cm - 9 m 6 dm 9 cm

(viii) 18 m 4 dm 8 cm - 8 m 9 dm 3 cm

(ix) 23 m 0 dm 5 cm - 10 m 3 dm 6 cm

4. Solve the following:

(i) 27 km 215 m - 15 km 372 m

(ii) 40 km 219 m - 10 km 507 m

(iii) 30 km 490 m - 10 km 720 m

(iv) 117 km 115 m - 35 km 320 m

(v) 40 km 217 m - 10 km 528 m

(vi) 72 km 207 m - 18 km 435 m

(vii) 49 km 509 m 32 cm - 32 m 307 dm 20 cm

(viii) 48 km 207 m 35 cm - 4 km 635 m 75 cm
