Worksheet on Slope and Y-intercept

In worksheet on slope and y-intercept we will get different types of equations.

On understanding slope and y-intercept of graphs of linear relations in x,y.

1. Determine the slope and y-intercept of the line graph for each of the following relations in x, y.

(i) 5x + 3y + 9 = 0

(ii) 7x = 8y - 5

(iii) 3y + 5 = 0

(iv) 9x - 10y = 4

(v) 5y = 3x + 4

(vi) 5y + 9 = 0

(vii) 5x - 9y - 10 = 0

2. Determine the slope and the inclination with the positive direction of the x-axis for the line graph of each of the following.

(i) √3x – y = 1

(ii) 3y = √3x + 1

(iii) 4(x - y) = 3

3. The following points are plotted in the x-y plane. Find the slope and y-intercept of the line joining each pair of points.

(i) (1, 3) and (-2, 1)

(ii) (0, 4) and (3, 4)

(iii) (-\(\frac{1}{3}\), -\(\frac{1}{2}\)) and (1, -2)

4. The points (6, -2) and (-3, 7) are plotted in the x-y plane. Find the slope and y-intercept of the line joining the points.

On drawing the graph of y = mx + c using slope and y-intercept.

5. Draw the graph for each of the following using the slope and y-intercept.

(i) √3x – y = 3

(ii) x = y + 2

(iii) x - √3y + 2√3 = 0
