Dividing Money

We will discuss here about the dividing money. Bigger amounts of money are divided in the same way as we divide ordinary numbers. We divide the amount without considering decimal point and then place the decimal point in quotient at the same place where it is placed in the dividend.

Let us consider some of the examples on division of money.

1. Divide $ 405.75 by 15

First, we divide as usual without considering the decimal point. Then we place the decimal point in the quotient after two digits from the extreme right as it is placed in the dividend $ 405.75.

The quotient is $ 27.05.

2. Divide $ 952.70 by 35

We place the decimal point in the quotient after two digits from the extreme right as it is placed in the dividend $ 952.70.

The quotient is $ 27.22.
