2nd Grade Division Word Problems

Division is the opposite of multiplication. In 2nd Grade Division Word Problems we will learn how to solve different types of word  problems problems on division.

2nd Grade Division

1. In a parade, there are 36 camels marchings in 3 equal rows. How many camels are there in each row?

Solution:

Total number of camels = 36

Number of rows = 3

Number of camels in each row = 36 ÷ 3= 12

Thus, there are 12 camels in each row.

Division 2nd Grade


2.
72 cups were arranged in 8 rows.

How many cup were arrange each row?

Solution:

Number of cups     = 72

Number of rows     = 8

Number of cups in each row = 72 ÷ 8 = 9

1. 42 marbles are to be shared among 3 children. How many marbles will each child get?

2. An athlete covers 2 m in each jump. How many jumps will he take to cover 10 m?

3. 36 apples are to be packed in boxes such that there are 6 apples in each box. How many boxes can be made of these apples?

4. An activity has to be performed in a class of 45 students. Groups of 5 students have to be made for the activity. How many groups will be made?

5. 54 eggs need to be packed in trays such that there are 6 eggs on each tray. How many trays will be required?

6. Bouquets having 9 flowers each are to be made. If there are 72 flowers in all, how many bouquets can be made?

7. 16 marbles are to be shared equally among 4 children. How many marbles will each child get?

8. 88 rasgulla pieces are packed equally in 8 boxes. How many rasgulla pieces are there in each box?

9. How many oranges do you buy for 18 if each orange costs 2?

10. Richard and his four friends visit the zoo. They pay 45 as the entry fee. How much does one ticket cost?

11. There are 72 seats in a movie hall. If each row has 9 seats, then how many rows of seats are there?

12. 50 crayons are arranged in 5 boxes so that each box has an equal number of crayons. How many crayons are there in each box.

13. 64 boys are standing in 8 rows. If the number of boys standing in each row is the same, how many boys are standing in a row?

14. Stephen has to take 350 people home in his bus. If only 50 people can sit in the van at a time, how many trips will he have to make?
