Worksheet to Find the Difference using Subtraction Property

Practice the bunch of questions in the worksheet to find the difference using subtraction property. Using the mathematical property subtraction is only possible when the number to be subtracted is smaller than the number from which the other number is subtracted.

1. Subtract the first number from the second number in each of the following:

(i) 3, 8

(ii) 4, 10

(iii) 10, 15

(iv) 85, 95

(v) 315, 425

(vi) 750, 850

2. If 9 + 6 = 15, then 15 – 6 = 9 and 15 – 9 = 6. On this basis find two subtraction facts for each of the given addition facts:

(i) 9 + 8 = 17

(ii) 64 + 24 = 88

(iii) 75 + 0 = 75

(iv) 415 + 204 = 619

(v) 216 + 152 = 368

(vi) 234 + 123 = 357

3. As 27 -15 = 12, so 12 + 15 = 27 and 15 + 12 = 27. On this basis find two addition facts for each of the given subtraction facts:

(i) 49 – 25 = 24

(ii) 48 – 25 = 23

(iii) 55 – 0 = 55

(iv) 678 – 235 = 443

(v) 256 – 115 = 141

(vi) 999 – 222 = 777

4. Fill in the blanks:

(i) 6 + ………… = 6

(ii) 19 + ………… = 19

(iii) 28 + 0 = …………

(iv) 6 - ………… = 6

(v) 19 - ………… = 19

(vi) 28 - 0 = …………

5. The sum of two numbers is 48. If one number is 15, find the other number.

6. Subtract zero from 157 and find the difference.

7. Subtract:

(i) 0 from 373

(ii) 373 from 373

8. Fill up the gaps:

(i) 375 - ………… = 0

(ii) 678 – 678 = …………

Answers for the worksheet to find the difference using subtraction property are given below to check the exact answers.
