Multiplication Table of 12

Repeated addition by 12’s means the multiplication table of 12.

(i) When 4 heaps of 12 oranges each.

By repeated addition we can show 12 + 12 + 12 + 12 = 48

Then, twelve 4 times or 4 twelve’s

4 × 12 = 48

Therefore, there are 48 oranges.

(ii) When 9 boxes each having 12 color-pens.

By repeated addition we can show 12 + 12 + 12 + 12 + 12 + 12 + 12 + 12 + 12 = 108

Then, twelve 9 times or 9 twelve’s

9 × 12 = 108

Therefore, there are 108 color-pens.

We will learn how to use the number line for counting the multiplication table of 12.

12 Times Table on Number Line

(i) Start at 0. Hop 12, two times. Stop at 24.

2 twelve’s are 24         2 × 12 = 24

(ii) Start at 0. Hop 12, six times.

Stop at ____. Thus, it will be 72

6 twelve’s are 72         6 × 12 = 72

(iii) Start at 0. Hop 12, eight times.

Stop at ____. Thus, it will be 96

8 twelve’s are 96         8 × 12 = 96
