Centimeters to Meters and Centimeters

We will discuss here how to convert centimeters to meters and centimeters.

Divide the number of centimeters by 100, quotient represents meter and remainder represents centimeters.

Let us consider some of the examples on converting cm to m and cm:

(i) 840 cm = 840 ÷ 100 gives 8 as quotient and 40 as remainder

               = 8 m 40 cm

(ii) 204 cm = 204 ÷ 100 gives 2 as quotient and 4 as remainder

                = 2 m 4 cm

(iii) 535 cm = 535 ÷ 100 gives 5 as quotient and 35 as remainder

                = 5 m 35 cm

(iv) 627 cm = 627 ÷ 100 gives 6 as quotient and 27 as remainder

                = 6 m 27 cm

(v) 430 cm = 430 ÷ 100 gives 4 as quotient and 30 as remainder

                = 4 m 30 cm

(vi) 709 cm = 709 ÷ 100 gives 7 as quotient and 09 as remainder

                = 7 m 09 cm

(vii) 999 cm = 999 ÷ 100 gives 9 as quotient and 99 as remainder

                = 9 m 99 cm

Note: We can directly put a dot (.) after 2 digits from right. The number formed to the right of dot represents centimeters and that to the left represents meters.

Let us consider some of the examples:

(i) 840 cm = 8.40 i.e., 8 m 40 cm

(ii) 204 cm = 2.04 i.e., 2 m 4 cm

(iii) 535 cm = 5.35 i.e., 5 m 35 cm

(iv) 753 cm = 7.53 i.e., 7 m 53 cm

(v) 905 cm = 9.05 i.e., 9 m 5 cm
